ACCOMMODATION

On this tour you will stay in traditional restored houses in Tochni

  • For history enthusiasts and those yearning to discover the authentic Cyprus, a bike ride encompassing two archaeological sites is a must. The Neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia stands as one of the most crucial prehistoric sites in the eastern Mediterranean and holds a coveted spot on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list.

Featuring circular houses built from mudbrick and stone with well-preserved flat roofs, this settlement was constructed by farmers from the Near East mainland around the beginning of the 9th millennium. Embarking from Tochni, your journey takes you through Kalavasos's narrow cobbled streets before arriving at the Tenta Neolithic settlement, sharing striking similarities with Choirokoitia.

Local sources suggest that Tenta got its name when St. Helena, mother of Constantine the Great, pitched her tent on the site during her return to Cyprus in AD 327 from Jerusalem. Enhance your archaeological exploration with a delectable dish of fresh fish in the nearby Zygi village.

Post-lunch, revel in the scenic route through green fields adorned with orange and lemon trees, followed by a delightful ride through Psematismenos village. Just a few kilometers away, you'll find yourself back at the starting point, the Choirokoitia settlement, concluding your bike journey through history."

    Accommodation: Traditional houses, Tochni

  • Immerse yourself in the perfect blend of Cyprus tradition, authenticity, and wine tasting with this captivating bike tour. Starting from Tochni, your journey leads to Lefkara, renowned for its exquisite lace (known as lefkaritika) and silver handicrafts. The village, named after the white hues of its silica and limestone, offers a rich cultural experience.

Bike through Kato Lefkara before reaching the picturesque Pano Lefkara, one of the most beautiful villages on the island. Admire traditional houses listed by the Department of Antiquities. Explore the Museum of Folklore Art, the Church of Holy Cross, and historic chapels scattered throughout Lefkara.

From Pano Lefkara, pedal towards Kato Dhrys, another charming village with limestone-built houses. Visit the Bee and Embroidery Museum before descending towards 'Ktima Christoudia' on your way to Vavla. This winery offers a variety of local wine and traditional grape products like Shoushoukos, Palouzes, and Zivania, with complimentary wine tasting.

If you're eager to explore further, ride to Vavla for a taste of different bee honey products. The journey back to the starting point is smoother from Vavla, following the road to Choirokoitia. Don't miss the opportunity to visit a local Halloumi Farm, where you can witness the traditional preparation of Halloumi cheese. Treat yourself to a delightful tasting of fresh Halloumi with tomato, bread, and coffee—a savory end to your memorable ride!"
