  • Distance: 37 km | Total Ascent: 270 m

A pleasant morning's ride today and the prospect of a free afternoon beside the sea at Limassol. We start the day cycling along the coast to the Neolithic archaeological site of Tenta in the village of Kalavasos which dates back to more than 6000 years BC. You'll be able to spot Tenta from a distance, since it is protected by a large tent-like structure.

Continuing the morning ride closer to the sea's edge, there are great coastal views, before arriving at a very different archaeological site after 25 kilometres of cycling. Amathous was one of the most important city-kingdoms of ancient Cyprus, dating from around 1100 BC and is another UNESCO-listed site. You'll have the chance to visit this quite extensive site (30 to 40 minute visit) which features marble columns, some with a spiral decoration, as well as paved squares, fragments of wall and the remains of a huge stone urn.

One "nal push takes us to our hotel for the evening on the sandy beach at Limassol; a great place for a swim. Afternoon at leisure and dinner with the guide at the hotel or in a nearby restaurant.

  • Distance: 29 Km | Total Ascent: 390 m

After a short transfer to the outskirts of Limassol, your ride today will head out through fields of orange and lemon trees to Kolossi Castle which was built in the 15th century on the ruins of an earlier fortress which had been a Crusader stronghold. The castle was a centre of sugar production in the Middle Ages and this area is also famous for the production of a sweet wine called Vin de Commanderie or simply Commandaria. This is one of the oldest named wines in the world, having had the same name for 8 centuries and we will discover how this wine has remained so popular at the nearby Cyprus Wine Museum, and get to taste it, too. Moving on again and not far from the wine museum is Ancient Kourion, probably the most spectacular archaeological sites on the island. Another important city-kingdom and occupying a cli"-top site with far-reaching coastal views, Kourion is a gem. There is an impressive Greco-Roman theatre (today used for musical and theatrical performances) an early Christian basilica and some very well-preserved Roman mosaics. Continuing the ride along the coast for a further 10 kilometres, you'll reach the group's hotel in the little seaside village of Pissouri. With a long stretch of pebbly beach, this is another a great place for a swim, before heading back to our hotel and enjoying dinner at a local taverna.
