Not just another mountain bike tour!

Join us for a lifetime mountainbike experience at Troodos Mountainous range in the heart of Cyprus. The Troodos Traverse MTB & wine route takes you on a trip across Cyprus mountains from east to west, using carefully selected forest roads and single trails, with long climbs and thrilling descents, breathtaking scenery and challenging terrain along the whole route. 

The route of "The Troodos Traverse" is been designed in a such a way that it can be suited to hard-core mountainbikers as well as mountainbike enthusiasts! The distances, the ascents together with the technical sections can be customized to your group level and yet keep a high standard of experience. The length of the whole route can be split in 4 to 6 days according to your group and level of fitness. The accommodation, the wineries and the tavernas remain as part of the route and a main, off the bike, attraction.

Remote places, tiny villages, small wineries, old churches and chapels will be adding to your Cyprus tradition and country life experience. Not long into the tour, you will start feeling the warmth and the welcoming spirit of the locals in the Cyprus countryside. This 250km long Mountaibike tour takes you through some of the most authentic places in Cyprus, the Troodos villages, the famous Venetian bridges, abandoned or remote villages where you can witness how the locals enjoy an alternative lifestyle in tranquility and harmony with nature and through the unspoilt beauty of the Akamas Peninsula. The terrain of this tour is a varied mix of long climbs, single-trails, long descents and short flat sections. We will, mainly, be riding on soil and rocky terrain that never gets muddy and has great traction in the fast sections. 

Small, family owned wineries are spread throughout the route of the Troodos Traverse. During our rides, we will be stopping in selected prestigious wineries to taste some of the best local wines including the oldest named wine in the world, the Commandaria, which is produced exclusively in Cyprus and dates back to the ancient Greeks time. Legend has it that it was served at the wedding of King Richard the Lionheart to Berengaria of Navarre! Our itinerary will also include culinary excursions to taste various local dishes, which will vary depending on the area and the time of the year. Fresh vegetable, local herbs and spices are used to enrich the taste of the exquisite Cyprus cuisine. Meze dishes, Ttavas, Afelia, Mousakas, Souvlaki, Ofto, Koupepia are some of the dishes that will be put the icing on the cake of your Cyprus MTB experience!

We know how important is to keep enjoying the trip when finally you are at the end of a biking day. That is why we try keep a great atmosphere by selecting the accommodation along the route that will fulfill or even exeed your expectations. Accommodation is included in this package and it is mainly in traditional houses or small village hotels with quite and warm atmosphere.

Arrival in Larnaca Airport. Transfer to your accommodation with a welcome drink by the Bikin'Cyprus Adventures staff. Before dinner we set up and adjust the bikes. A briefing will follow for the next day's ride!

Distance: 45km

First day of riding might be a bit hard but very reqarding. From Agros we start riding towards Madari, the second highest peak on the island, where we will enter its singletrail netrwork. The trails will connect us to the higher areas of the mountain where our accommodation is located. Before reaching our destination we ride around Olympus, the peak of the mountain, in one of the most scenic singletrails of the island (if not of the whole Europe). From this circular trail we can see a big part of the island, from the green mountain tops to the blue Mediterranean Sea. Troodos square is our final destination. Local beer and BBQ is deserved for all of us.

Distance: 58km

For our second day of riding, the top of the island waits for us! Mt Olympus sits at 1952m and is our first challenge for the day! After indulging the magnificent views of the north coast of Cyprus and the Mesaoria plain we start descending towards the area of Agios Nikolaos village and the stone build Venetial bridges. We first pass from the Venetial bridge of Elia, followed by the Kelefos Bridge and then we head to Roudhias Bridge. The last ascent of the day takes us to yhe abandoned Vretsia village and our final destination, Panagia village where we will sleep for the night. The ride is mainly forest roads and singletrails with nice flow, beautiful scenery and some stops for wine tasting. Along the way we have several options for a short stop for local food to keep us up and running!

Distance: 49km

From Panagia, at 900m asl we head north though forest roads towards "Stavros Tis Psokas". Along the route we enjoy the dense Pafos Forest around the "Agia" pic nic site. At Stavros tis Psokas forest station, we have our first break of the day to enjoy a nice coffee and a Cyprus sweet. From Stavtos we descent towards the Ezousa valley to Sarama village which is our final destination for the day. We ride on one of the nicest mtb trails of the whole route which runs along the Stavros river, between huge trees and high cliffs around. The valley is quite narrow which makes the experience very unique. The trails will take us thought the abandoned village of Sarama, before we reach our accommodation in Yurt tends.

Distance: 59km

On this day we start our ride from the Sarama village heading towards Ezousa Dam passing from the Skarfos medieval bridge. Exiting the Ezousa Valley we start climbing towards the historic Kritou Terra village. From then on, we ride towards Kathikas amd Droushia for a wine and halloumi cheese tasting in one of the many wineries and traditional cheese workshops in the area. After our short break we start descending into the Akamas peninsula towards Smigies pic nic site. Our last kms of the ride will be along the Mediterranean seashore, to eventually reach the town of Polis Chrysochous where we will spend the night.

Distance: 80km

We finish the Troodos Traverse with the longest riding day! The theme of the day is unspoiled beauty and love since we start out ride from the famus Aphtodite's Baths. We will be riding passed the penisnula's most famus coasts such as Aphrodite's and Adonis love nest "Fontana Amorosa" and the turtle nesting Lara Beach. Riding passed Avakas Gprge we exit towards Agios Georgios church anf then ride next to the waves and sea caves of the coastal trails from Peyia towards Pafos. A well-earned beer at the scenic Paphos harbor is a must sfter the long say on the saddle!

Bus transfer to Larnaca airport and a bittersweet farewell! This was indeed a once in a lifetime experience!
